Getting Ready: Preparing to House Your Pre-K Program

Thinking of applying for new pre-kindergarten funds?
Expanding to or adding a new pre-kindergarten program?

Getting Ready: Preparing to House Your Pre-Kindergarten Program is a new tool available free from the Illinois Facilities Fund. Getting Ready was designed to help ISBE Pre-Kindergarten grant applicants plan ahead for housing their program.

Whether your organization has an existing school building or other facility already in mind, or needs to find a whole new space, Getting Ready will help you jump start your planning process. Assessing the fit of a facility against your needs and goals well in advance of the program’s start will help ensure that you have adequate time to plan for renovation, a site search and other space preparation.

In three guided steps, Getting Ready will help you assess your space needs, evaluate the fit of any facility with your agency’s program goals, and identify any renovation or modification needs:

  • Set basic parameters that will guide your facility decisions
  • Evaluate your options based on step one
  • Get started if your project requires renovation or reconfigured space

Getting Ready is an interactive tool that works best on your computer, but can be easily printed if desired. Click here to download and begin using it.

This tool was developed from the IFF’s accumulated knowledge of planning, designing and building spaces for early care and education programs, with funding generously provided by the Grand Victoria Foundation.
